The Venerable Tanya Phibbs has been appointed Executive Officer for the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario.
The appointment was announced by Archbishop Anne Germond, Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario, following its ratification by the Provincial Executive Council on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
As Executive Officer, Archdeacon Phibbs will provide administrative oversight to the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario, assist the Metropolitan in her capacity as President of the Provincial Synod, and maintain records of provincial business. The role also supports the priorities of Provincial Synod and the province’s expanding areas of mission and ministry.

In announcing the appointment, Archbishop Anne highlighted Archdeacon Phibbs’ experience, collaborative approach and deep faith.
“She is well known in church circles for being a strong critical thinker, an effective communicator, and someone who works collaboratively in diverse ministry contexts and settings,” Archbishop Anne said.
“Archdeacon Phibbs also has a deep and profound faith, coupled with a strong commitment to seeking the common good. She is a faithful and prayerful servant of the church, whose devotion and wisdom will enrich her ministry in this role.”
Archbishop Anne concluded by inviting prayers for Archdeacon Phibbs as she begins this new ministry. “We pray that God will continue to guide and strengthen Archdeacon Phibbs as she undertakes this important responsibility in service to the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario and its people.”
