Priorities for the triennium

The Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario has identified three major priorities for the current triennium, following discussions by the House of Bishops and Provincial Council. These priorities are intended to be areas where the province's seven dioceses can work collaboratively rather than each diocese trying to address them independently

Top three priorites

Indigenous Awareness

The province has committed to strengthening Indigenous relationships through ongoing education and reconciliation work. A particular focus is Call to Action 60 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which calls for education of church leaders about Indigenous spirituality, history, and reconciliation.

Congregational Development

Congregational development, with an emphasis on sharing resources, ideas, and expertise among dioceses to strengthen local ministries and support healthy congregations. The goal is to enable dioceses to learn from one another and collaborate on ministry initiatives rather than working in isolation.

Lay Vocations & Formation

The province is exploring ways to improve access to theological formation and ordination pathways, especially for lay people discerning a call to ordained ministry. Addressing barriers such as geography, cost, and availability of educational opportunities across Ontario's dioceses.
