Metropolitan Awarded Honorary Degree

Trinity College confers Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) upon Archbishop Anne Germond.

On Tuesday, May 14, Trinity College has conferred a Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) degree upon Archbishop Anne Germond in recognition of her significant leadership across a substantial part of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario as the first woman to hold the role of Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario.


Archbishop Anne is also being recognized for her work as as the diocesan bishop of Algoma and Moosonee and in particular her work with the numerous Indigenous communities across northern Ontario and northwestern Quebec.


At Trinity College’s Faculty of Divinity Convocation, 14 Faculty of Divinity students graduated with Master of Divinity (MDiv), Master of Theological Studies (MTS), Doctor of Ministry (DMin) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theological Studies degrees, awarded conjointly by Trinity College and the University of Toronto.


Congratulations from all the dioceses of the province are extended to Archbishop Anne!
